I have a galaxy phone with a screen that works great with my computer. It wasn’t until I started using my phone that it started going black while I was using the computer. This has happened to me on multiple occasions, with the screen staying up until the screen completely blacked out.
I am not a computer geek, so I dont know much about the tech. I was thinking it might be a bad screen or possibly a bad battery. I would love to replace the screen with a newer model, or atleast give it a little more time to fix.

The point is that this problem is not limited to samsung devices. It applies to many brands of screen protectors, and if you are a user of a screen protector, then you have to be aware of this problem. You really should get a screen protector for all your devices, as it is not a simple fix.
The point is not that you should replace the screen protector, but that it is not a simple fix. A screen protector should be made of a material that will not cause any sort of permanent damage when the phone is taken off. That is the point of a screen protector. If you can take it off with a simple gesture, then you are just using a poor screen protector.
